■ What is a declaration of conformity?
The declaration of conformity is a document with which manufacturers of products or services officially confirm that they have complied with applicable directives and safety standards of the European Union during production. The CE declaration of conformity declares compliance with European law for the following product groups:
- Products
- Work processes
- People
- Bodies
- Management systems
Whether the declaration of conformity is made electronically, stored in the technical documentation or must accompany the products depends entirely on the type of product. The original declaration of conformity must always be kept for ten years from the date of the last production, as the market surveillance authority may request the declaration of conformity for inspection.
