In contrast to hard gelatine capsules, soft gelatine capsules are filled with liquid or semi-solid goods. The vast majority of capsules consist primarily of gelatine and plasticisers. They offer better active ingredient absorption of poorly water-soluble active ingredients. The release of the active ingredient can be immediate or delayed. The disadvantage compared to tablets is the more complex production process.

Product features
During production, the two gelatine sleeves are welded together after the core has been enclosed. This creates a welded seam. However, leaking capsules may occur and must be ejected by an inspection system.
■Recommended inspection system for soft gelatine capsules
