Bundle Inspection with Serialisation and Aggregation Possibilities

The CAPA BI station inspects folding cartons that have been collated into a bundle. An inspection of individual folding boxes is also possible.

For bundle inspection, area scan cameras of the SIGNUM HR print image inspection system are used to check 1D and 2D codes for legibility and bundle completeness.

Aggregation and Serialisation of the data can be implemented by the IMPERA management system from scanware.

The overall machine control of all components is handled by a PLC. The visualisation takes place on the scanware GUI.

Construction and Components of Bundle Inspection CAPA BI

The bundle inspection CAPA BI is modularly structured in three parts. The lower part of the system stands on rollers and contains the electronics. In the middle part is the compressed air control. The upper part contains the display and the printer.

The drives are realised with brushless and therefore wear-free motors. The use of planetary gears ensures excellent power transmission. The housing is completely made of stainless steel. All components are standard parts and thus enable an efficient spare parts supply.

All stations are equipped with an emergency stop and a signal lamp.

The CAPA BI station is equipped with a conveyor belt (200 mm) to guide the bundles along the installed camera.

A pneumatic ejection cylinder allows the bundle to be ejected when an error is detected. A contact edge has been installed so that the bundles are guided in the correct position. This is also used for toolless format adjustment (adjustable according to bundle size).

Camera

Depending on the size of the composites to be inspected, cameras of up to 29 megapixels are used, which are equipped with SMD W-LED lighting. The area scan camera can be installed by scanware in three different positions: top, front and rear.

For the "front" and "rear" versions, the camera is installed in a DOM box. In the "top" version, the camera is mechanically adjustable in height. This enables the size of the recording surface to be changed, which can be reduced or increased depending on the bundle size.

Illumination
The illumination used in the CAPA BI is integrated in the housing. It is adjustable in 16 brightness levels. The illumination set for a format is stored in the format data set and is therefore reproducible.
